  1. The vast majority of the dismantled ones were short lived logging railroads.

    That’s why the density is so high in forested areas and much lower in farming areas.

  2. I grew up right next to that one inactive rail in the south. If i’m not mistaken is was a rail line that went straight to the sugarcane mill. Lots of sugar cane fields along those tracks.

    I would like to see a map of our areas narrow gauge. They say the Towel Bros. rail had so many twists and turns that you could stand on the front of the train, the back, and the middle and in some sections you all 3 could tough hands at once. Crazy what they did with some of that older tech and no regulations 😂
