Selenskyj: Ohne ukrainisches Militär hat Europa keine Chance gegen Russland

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the possibility of ending the war or achieving a truce in Ukraine hinges on Europe’s readiness to take a tougher stance on Russia.

Details: Asked to comment on the possibility of ending the Russo-Ukrainian war in 2025, Zelenskyy said he felt such a desire on the part of US President-elect Donald Trump.

“I’m sure that Russia fears the United States, fears China and fears a united Europe. Without the Ukrainian army, Europe cannot cope with the Russian army, because the Russian army is bigger. Russia has more weapons, more people and is more brutal than Europeans,” Zelenskyy emphasised.

He also stressed that Europeans live in a democracy and “don’t know what war is”, unlike Russia.

“And without the Ukrainian army, Europe, sadly, has no chance against Russia today. [Kremlin ruler Vladimir] Putin knows this and talks about it in his entourage. Therefore, he will quickly move on if Ukraine does not defend itself. That’s a fact,” Zelenskyy said.

…and another thought: Europe would be in an even more dire situation if the remnant now experienced Ukrainian military was to join Russian efforts after a political collapse of Ukraine.

Whether or not he’s right, it’s absolutely in Europe’s interest not to have to find out. Why not help Ukraine win the war now, when it only costs us money and equipment, instead of having to have our soldiers (and civilians) die, once Russia moves onto the Baltics?!

This is true. Poland and Ukraine are the only two capable of waging a land war in Europe. France has the air force but not the artillery and drones . Germany can’t even make ammunition.

With a will to peace, diplomatic efforts could lead to a more normal situation with peace and trade in the old world, but not everyone is interested in that and therefore things will go as they go. The idea that a strong nuclear power would allow itself to be crushed will be fatal.

Russia is very dangerous because they got so many nukes, intercontinental missles and submarines capable of carrying them. Apart from that they are still powerful but europe can manage that i mean right now Ukraine manage them so we should be good too.

So realisticly Zelensky is wrong and instead we have no chance against russia without the US and their nuclear arsenal which sucks but nobody in europe is willing to change that so i guess lets hope the americans never elect somebody stupid.

People are acting as though he couldn’t possibly have meant what he said, or that Zelenskiy is “delusional” but I’m honestly not so sure about that.

How would a nation like Germany or Poland, say, propose to deal with a hundred Shaheds plus ballistic missiles and glide bombs coming their way *every single night*? For months?

Given time, of course these nations could adapt to the new reality, as Ukraine has adapted, but as of right now they’d suffer *incredibly* hard. And unlike Ukraine they wouldn’t have the benefit that at least their enemy is only just figuring all of this out too.

I mean I’m sure a few dozen F-35s would wreak havoc, but I want to say it’s at least *doubtful* that they’d win a war all by themselves, against a decentralised foe with *vast* amounts of cheap plastic drones to throw at us.

Europe can handle Russia just fine. Poland is enough because NATO

Zelensky is exaggerating, but there is some truth in it. Many people overlook that Ukraine had a large army before the war, much larger than France, Germany or Italy. Before the war, Ukraine had 2,000 tanks, not including at least 500 tanks that Western countries helped it with during the war, and a large number of artillery. In contrast, France, Germany and Italy each had only more than 200 tanks. European countries have relatively advanced air forces, but the sum of their air force fighters is only slightly more than Russia, and cannot form an overwhelming air superiority. This does not include the possibility that China may provide Russia with large-scale weapons and equipment if the war situation continues to deteriorate for Russia. Moreover, the nationalism in Western European countries is far less than that in Eastern European countries. Few young people in countries like France and Germany are willing to fight for their country, which is in stark contrast to the rising nationalism in Russia, Ukraine and Poland.

Russia will win by convincing idiots to vote for pro-Russian politicians. They won’t have to fire a shot to conquer Europe. All they have to do is continue their massive disinformation campaigns.
