It’s shocking that the Liberal Party wants to bring in the chair of one of world’s largest asset management firms to run the country. This company has been involved in numerous corruption scandals, yet the Liberals seem perfectly fine with brushing that under the rug just to secure a few more seats. All the last 12 years of Canadians highlighting how corrupt trump and the us is…LPC is about to say hold my beer let’s elect the director of one of the companies inflating Canada’s real estate with REITs
He’s certainly an outsider to Parliament, but it’s political spin to say he’s actually an outsider when he occupied a position of economic advisor to Trudeau and has on his team Liberal tactician/strategists like Gerry Butts and back-channel/unofficially has Telford.
It’s clear he’s the party establishment’s choice.
Refreshing to see someone actually give answers and solutions instead of silly tik tok vids and catchy slogans that mean nothing.
I just became a Carney d rider watching this video.
I thought it was a good interview, good sense of humour and rolled with the punches. Was surprised he got on the show, the timing is coincidence /s
As someone who generally supports the NDP. I actually really like Carney and think he’d be a great PM. Especially in a new Trump era. We desperately need an adult at the helm to counter balance Trumps insanity.
It’s pretty hard to claim he’s an outsider to a government that was ready to parachute him in as Finance Minister. He seems like a smart guy but a terrible politician.
I hope he’s ready to lose, possibly in a shockingly bad way, and stick around. There’s no point for anyone to waste a potentially good leadership candidacy on a month of power and then years of being ignored (or just jumping ship in 4 months).
Had a lot of family over this weekend, a lot of typically apolitical people. The amount of hatred toward lpc is next level. Open hate, especially for shutting down government with trump coming in next week. I honestly think LPC will dramatically under perform polls. And this whole leadership race is just pissing people off even more. Nobody cares who LPC picks.
The fact that we live in a time where political outsiders are viewed as more attractive candidates, regardless of their professional training and success, is a big red flag. So much trust has been lost, which I understand, but it also makes you vulnerable to populist leaders to paint political opponents as enemies of the people. This is the fertile ground for authoritarians.
Yeah he’s clearly going to be the pick.
NDP might have a big card to play here if they support them. Let’s see if they mess it up.
It looked to me like the interview was staged and rehearsed many times. Like a paid promotion directed from the banking sector owning the media to push their guy to take over Canada and keep extracting wealth from the poor and middle class while doing even more greenwashing.
I know it escalated quickly and it sounds like a conspiracy theory… Maybe because I watched Hypernormalization by Adam Curtis again recently
[The actual video for those who’d like to see it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs8St-fF0kE)
I had no idea he was from Alberta. He is sharper than I thought too. He is a fixer rather than a mixer,
Thanks for posting this.
