The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), which is investigating the 12/3 martial law declaration incident, has decided to deploy about 50 personnel on the 15th to arrest President Yoon Seok-yeol. In effect, it is planning to deploy all of its personnel to go into full-scale war.

According to Dong-A Ilbo, the CIO is known to be deploying about 50 prosecutors and investigators to re-execute the arrest warrant for President Yoon on the 15th. This means deploying all of the CIO’s available investigative personnel. The CIO deployed 30 personnel during the first execution on the 3rd.

It is said that it is deploying all of its investigative personnel to do its utmost in what is effectively the last opportunity to arrest President Yoon. It has been reported that the CIO has assigned each of its personnel to arrest and collect evidence, and is currently conducting a final equipment inspection. The personnel are said to be gathering at the CIO building in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province at 4:00 AM and planning to execute the warrant at 5:00 AM. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is known to have reviewed several scenarios, including a plan to guard the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul for several days to arrest the president.

Meanwhile, the police mobilized to execute the Public Prosecutor’s Office arrest warrant are known to have finished preparing to call in approximately 1,000 investigators from the metropolitan police investigation units, including the Seoul, Gyeonggi Southern, and Gyeonggi Northern Police Agencies. It is also known that investigators in the Gyeonggi and Incheon regions have been instructed to “prepare to go to Seoul and stand by.”

Just as on the 3rd, the Presidential Security Service announced its intention to prevent the arrest of the president. In a statement on that day, the Presidential Security Service stated, “We will respond to illegal executions according to the existing security work manual in accordance with relevant laws,” and “Special security areas, including the presidential residence, are security zones and national security facilities, national key facilities, and military facility protection zones, and prior approval from the person in charge is required for entry.”

So what’s the vibe on the street?

Bloodly conflict? Mostly eventless arrest? Another push back and resignation of the acting presidential security chief?

Is there a need to announce this to the whole world damn world beforehand? Just don’t understand it. It makes the target and his mob know the entire plan.

yoon daring and probably hoping for blood so they can frame it as the commies obviously against democracy /s. everyone else too cowardly to do shit beforehand so it’s come to this. nobody wants to make the first move and take the blame if something goes wrong.

i’ve also come to understand that korean media (and prob fault of translations) love to use words like raid, standoff, deployed, etc. as if they are all gearing up to take him down but 90% of time it’s like some dudes calmly walking into the building and asking nicely lol. oops no? sorry i guess we will stand around for 5 hours and go home.
