It’s modelling the right behaviour, but we need to keep our expectations cratered on the chances it will even be noticed, much less make an impact on the relationship between the governments for the next 4 years.
His narrative is ok, but besides some potential CAF support, he had nothing to do with the response, as this was mostly a provincial response. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an overall Canadian response in the end, but as with every forests/wild fires situations, provinces and states have been helping each other for years through a pretty mature collaboration system.
Unfortunately, for Trump’s base, Canadians helping Americans despite the threats will be seen as “us Canadians being chumps”.
