  1. “Leftwing progressive” governments like Mexico, Colombia and Brazil abstaining to be “balanced and neutral” are such a fucking embarrasment.

Somehow Ukraine, a country that just got its independence basically and is poorer than the Latin America average is not a “fellow Global South ally”.

Who would win a hypothetical war between the green and red? That could be a good name for this.

  3. Interesting that the Russian puppet government in Georgia voted in favour.

Edit: why is this downvoted without any comment?

  4. Interesting that Syria voted against given the new rebel-led government is anti Russia, is Bashaar Alasad still in control of the Syrian delegation to the UN?

  5. Intrepid-Treacle-862 on

Interesting Israel voted in favour considering that Ukraine has been anti Israel in most UN resolutions.

the fact that politics are dragged into humnaitarian crisis is so sad, same thing for the west about the palestine conflict.

This is about to be outdated since the US is in the Russian-Chinese Bloc now.

There’s a lot of countries who usually vote to condemn Russia, not because they have anything in particular against Russia or pro-West, they just dislike the idea of a country annexing portions of another, that are notably abstained here. In fact, even some Western-allied countries abstained here.

Abstentions don’t necessarily means being against the idea, either. It can mean many things, including “I’m in favour of the idea, but the way it was tabled means I cannot be part of it”.

Did the resolution have any particularly bad phrasing?

Russia is a giant skidmark on the underpants of civilisation

Will it actually achieve anything? Most of the votes can’t be a surprise.

  11. Ukraine is feeding Africa with their grain and yet, they don’t have the guts to vote in favour of Ukraine…
Add: Thumbs up for Liberia and Malawi

Concerned Nations expressed concerns! Newsflash! So how this licking to “global south” so they was on our side gone, Ukrainian diplomacy?

  13. This is a fine example of the delusion of westerners when they speak about the “international community” they are actually just speaking of nato+closer allies xd

  14. Where was the vote regarding the UAF bombing it’s own citizens for 8 years?

  15. For fucks sake Hungary make up your mind. Which side do you want to be on?

  16. Not sure why abstaining is color red when it’s not supporting either side.

Remember that most of these countries have their own people to feed and Europe is far. It’s not that they didn’t want to support Ukraine, but they just can’t afford to do so. At least they didn’t vote against it and that’s the best they can do. Moral judgement is unnecessary.

In Syria was it Assad’s government voting, because I can’t imagine the opposition government voting pro-Russian

Mayanma if rebels voted then no surprise.
Bangladesh considering the current dispensation is surprising and Bhutan is interesting.

Countries that abstained are just hypocrites who don’t assume their alignment with Russia

Maps like this and maps going against Israel show that most of the entire world isn’t standing on morals or consistent principles. Most countries vote in favor of their “block” or allies and don’t care about humans rights. I believe this is called Campism

Now put a Palestine vote and you will see the opposite. It’s global south vs west politics.

    >Temporarily occupied

Hopefully won’t have to keep labeling them as such by end of the year.

  23. Israel voting for human rights in Ukraine… bro, i think the call is coming from inside the house.

Otherwise big shame on all countries who abstained, the Ukrainians are just as humans as any of us and their human rights should not be endangered and ignored.

It’s impressive to see how visible Russia’s influence on the former French colonies in Africa is on this map. The growing presence of the Wagner Group in countries like Mali and the Central African Republic highlights this shift. Many of these nations, seeking security assistance and alternatives to Western powers, have turned to Russia for military and political support.

South South Africa show their true colours, at least Ireland are constant in their support for Palestine and Ukraine

Interesting to see the correlation between those who voted to end Israeli’s occupation of Palestine and who abstained in this vote. Ukraine should call their bluff and propose a vote against the russian occupation of Ukraine and show up the hypocrites.

  27. as a mexican, I love how Mexico is always neutral we don’t fuck with anyone so no one fucks with us.. we have enough internal problems and internal problems wars going on….

  28. I love how colors are used on this map. This is an example of how even facts can be presented in a biased way.

    Some interesting results (to me):

    – Syria voted against (was the decision set in motion before the fall of the Assad regime?)

    – Hungary and Slovakia voted in favour (possibly because they know general assembly resolutions don’t really do anything, but I was still surprised they didn’t abstain considering their recent positions).

    – Most of Russia’s regional allies abstained (like Serbia).

    – Armenia abstained

    – Liberia and Malawi voted in favour

  30. The „anti-genocide“ team are staying real quiet on those one lol.

Have we, courageously, again, been absent for the vote? Moroccan here.

We’re not even here to abstain. Nope, had an urgent need to pee during the vote.

    Sigh
