Don’t make it a boring 1 hour slog
Do sprints mixed with calisthenics while getting your breath back.
What is it you want to achieve by running more?
Next time, go for 11 minutes, in 6 months you’ll be able to do at least a mini marathon
Everything worth doing is worth doing poorly.
If you can’t make your goal of 2 hours running each week it’s still very worthwhile doing 30 minutes on friday
One year I decided to stop making resolutions and it is the onky one I have ever stuck to ,😁

Stick on some headphones and run / walk when told to. Easy peasy.
Last year was the first year ever I completed my New Year Resolutions. I lost 30 lbs in weight, got fit and healthy and beat my 5K and 10K PB’s. I also reached a couple of work goals which I’d set myself. I kicked the New Year off this morning by running at a New Year’s Day parkrun. When I first started running I did a C25K plan. It takes about 10 weeks but it is manageable and enjoyable. I then started running at parkrun. parkrun is a great way to start and to try and improve your running pace and time. Happy New Year. My only wish for 2025 is to beat my parkrun PB time again.
To be fair OP, 10mins is plenty. The problem people make is they start way too ambitious compared to their current fitness and ability and end up bolloxed or they injury themselves by doing too much too soon. I never recommend someone to run by distance if they’re just starting out. Run by time. 10mins this week and next, 12.5mins next week, 15min etc. This will allow your joints to get used to the extra force they’re being exposed to incrementally and you’ll feel better for it in the long run.
There are some excellent free training apps like Runna if you wanted more structure. What matters is you’re getting up and moving. Fitness is always earned, never given.
