That’s one work permit issued to India, alone, for every 2.5 houses built this year.

    This is insanity.

13,147. This explains why so many of them are at the till of so many shops, from Penneys to Supermac’s.

    Where do they stay…

All the people giving out about this: What’s the alternative? If we stop it, we can’t fill all the skilled roles so our economy suffers. What’s the point of reducing housing pressure if we have to scupper the economy to get it?

I’m going to say the thing I shouldn’t say, but by god did the Brazilians men spice up the gay scene in Dublin (if you know what I mean 😉). Let even more of them in!

What’s odd here is that the half a billion or so people from the EU and the U.K. who can live here.

Why the necessity for so many people from India? Is it that Ireland just isn’t attractive to Europe anymore, or just employers being cheap.

  6. Ireland depended on being a tax haven for big corporations to prop up its economy and is paying the price. This is the price you pay for unbridled capitalism.

Crazed chasing of GDP growth, no care for community, quality of life, access to services or housing. It ain’t ever gonna stop either.

  8. Canada has a slightly similar issue with Indian migrants, huge amount of migrants which eventually ruined the job market .

    > “This rising demand for work permits is driven by an increase in economic activity against a backdrop of full employment,”

If the main function of immigrants is to fill job vacancies then how come we have 1 million people living here who were not born here, yet we still have all these job vacancies?

The demand for jobs is being driven by an increasing population from immigration. This is the infinite feedback loop where we need more and more immigrants to fill “critical skills” to service the ever-increasing population. It’s the capitalist infinite growth model in a nutshell.

It’s like our government are too stupid to learn from the case studies of Canada, the UK, Sweden and countless other countries about the problems of not having a controlled and sensible immigration system.

These sorts of policies led the UK to Brexit and also led Canada to wanting to go net zero now on immigration due to the detrimental effects that uncontrolled numbers have had on their housing market and infrastructure.
