2) A major earthquake somewhere.
3) A mysterious disease appears and then fades from the news when it’s revealed to be a strain of a known virus.
4) Several technological breakthroughs or discoveries from previous decades will be irresponsibly reported as new.
5) A hundred or so homes will purchase androids.
6) One social network or another will be in the news for a week for the wrong reasons.
7) Once or twice this year, we will learn that the planet narrowly avoided being hit by an asteroid that NASA swears they hadn’t noticed beforehand.
