    • In late March, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol reportedly expressed a strong intention to implement martial law during a dinner at the presidential residence in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

    • Attendees included Shin Won-sik (then Minister of National Defense, now National Security Advisor), Cho Tae-yong (Director of the National Intelligence Service), Kim Yong-hyun (then Chief of the Presidential Security Service), and several military officials.

    • President Yoon expressed anger over the political situation and stated his intent to implement martial law soon; attendees reportedly advised against it.

    • Similar discussions allegedly occurred in December of the previous year at the official residence in Hannam-dong, with key security officials present.

    • Cho Tae-yong denied that any discussions of martial law took place, stating through the National Intelligence Service that he attended meetings of an encouraging nature.

    • The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law of the Prosecutors’ Office recently questioned Cho regarding these allegations.
