If you had time to take your camera out, it was probably a satellite reentry. There was one that fell yesterday over the US, so it was probably that.

Honestly, I’d be pretty stoked to have seen this. Meteorites are pretty common, but flaming space debris fortunately isn’t.

That would have been a meteor (or shooting star), possibly part of the Ursid meteor shower ([Ursids – Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ursids)).

Comets travel slowly relative to the background stars. They don’t shoot across the sky like meteors.

    Good spot though!

Comets don’t shoot across the sky. They will appear to hang motionless.

  4. Comets appear relatively static – visible over many nights. This is almost certainly a meteor or reentering satellite.

  5. A comet? Do you know the difference between a meteor and a comet? American?

Reported satelites falling yesterday in Puerto Rico, Phillipines and Nevada. Where was this at?

No you didn’t. That’s an old Chinese satellite re-entering the atmosphere.

i think if it was a comet they whole world would talk about it, !

Comets are visible for days, and their appearance is expected. This is space-junk burning in the atmosphere.
