I hope not
no
Nope.
No lol
You can’t even get people in Switzerland to care about sports we’re actually good at and have been for a long time like mountain biking, all anyone wants to talk about is soccer, soccer, soccer. So no, it won’t work, and also, people have been trying for years.
Is American football popular anywhere outside of the US, for that matter? Baseball and basketball have quite a bit of traction in the rest of the world, but I don’t really know about American football.
No, rugby has a better chance and rugby has zero chances.
Rugby for the win 🙂
I don’t understand how anyone can get excited about watching young people get traumatic brain injuries.
No cause it sucks.
What for?
We’re already 3 Bears fans in Züri Wyland, so I assume there’s at least 15 of us in all of Switzerland.
No, we’re not into American handegg.
Absolutely it can! The sport is growing in popularity.
I’d say yes. There are a decent amount of american football fans in switzerland.
Biggest problem. They suck. know one will show up to a team that loses every game.
But why though? American “football” sucks
People on reddit absolutely despise sports and sports fandom, so these answers are pretty biased, tho not inherently wrong.
American Football is actually pretty big for Swiss standards. There are Super Bowl Watch parties in every bigger town and I know a lot of people who regularly watch the NFL on sunday. The domestic league viewership also isn’t that bad, the champs Calanda Broncos for example reach a crowd of 1000 people pretty regularly.
The problem with the mercenaries however is, who will actually become a fan of them? If you’re from Chur and like football, you probably like the Broncos already. If you’re form Bern or Basel, why would you want to support a Team playing in Wil? Most fandoms, especially in Europe, also don’t just form over night, but are passed on from your father, who became a fan because of his father. And for that to happen the game still has to grow a lot
People say no, and the reason is…
If you’d have live coverage on TV, it might work, but then there’s no international tournaments like uefa and champions cup.
The popularity is lagging behind real football to badly and there’s no talent, why watch swiss football when you have the NFL.
Similar with basketball, albeit European basketball is alright, but still the top teams would be cannon fodder for any NBA team, maybe even for the globe trotters
Meanwhile, Europe is as far leagues are concerned, not national teams necessarily, hands down the number one.
Clubs like FC bcn , Milano those are multi billion enterprises, haha sometimes billions in debt, like Barca, but you get the gist
No, nor should they
