In Freelands Brief wurde das Geschlecht nicht erwähnt, aber Trudeau sieht sich ohnehin Angriffen wegen „falschen Feminismus“ ausgesetzt

Trudeau is many things, but I don’t buy into the mysoginy bit. This cabinet fiasco is in line with the general Trudeau brand compliance that he expects and I don’t think it’s much deeper than that.

Is this low hanging fruit that can be plucked for controversy? Absolutely.

Ah yeah, cost of living is in the shitter, quality of employment is being diminished, and we are woefully underprepared for any future conflicts or resource shortages. But let’s make sure to make everything about identity politics.

Some people can be so insane lol…

I’m quite tough on the current government in a lot of threads for (what I feel) a host of easily avoided issues but this one I’m not sure about it.

The media seems to be attaching itself to a narrative mostly supported and vocalized by Celina Caesar-Chavannes. This is a well she draws from at almost every opportunity.

Firing someone who is a woman isn’t the same as firing someone because they’re a woman. Conflating the two is actually (to me) anti-feminist as it’s assumes strong female leaders still need protection from/by men and aren’t able to be judged on the merits of their work.

That being said Trudeau’s track record here isn’t superb and I do find it ironic this comes shortly after he stated the rejection of Kamala Harris was a set back for women.

I think Chrystia Freeland saw what happened when Kamala Harris failed to identify anything she would do differently than Joe Biden, and threw Justin Trudeau under the bus to separate herself from him when she runs for leader. I would not be surprised if Trudeau was in on it to set her up as the next leader, although that is not likely the case. I do not think it has anything to do with her being a woman, and as a woman, I get uncomfortable when these false claims gain traction. They undermine women and give talking points to detractors. Freeland was just not that effective in the role and her gender should not prevent anybody from acknowledging her mistakes.
