Sure you can stay at home, if your home is safe to stay in, which isn’t the case for everyone😅 some people have to evacuate almost every time this happens (at least once a year lately), others when something local hits them extra badly. It does seem to get worse? The local kommune is at least getting pretty good at handling it🤷‍♀️ not that it’s anything new but the frequency I do feel like is increasing.

I live in the West and when there’s a lot of rain, I’m very mindful of where I drive even if the road isn’t closed. I like to stay alive and whole. 🙂 One flying or rolling rock at the wrong time is enough. I personally have experienced being in a 15-25 minute window of being crushed by a rock twice. Once by foot, went hiking our popular local route. Came back down and a big rock was standing, embedded into the ground, in the middle of the path. Another time a very large rock came down and almost hit the road I was driving on. My sister was nearly swept over a waterfall by a small creek, that because of rain turned into a large river when she came back down from a hike. I’ve seen the ski tracks of people who died a day later in a snow storm. And so on. It’s not always easy to survive in the mountains in the West!

I also drove over Haukelifjell for every holiday when I lived in the East, for almost a decade. The statistic during the winter was that the road was closed 50% of the time on that exact day I planned on going over. That’s how often we have storms.
