Canada’s provincial premiers are preparing a list of potential retaliatory measures in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s threat to impose 25% tariffs on all goods imported from Canada. Ontario Premier Doug Ford indicated that the provinces might consider significant actions, including cutting off energy supplies to the U.S. Canada is a key exporter of oil, gas, and other energy resources to the U.S., making such measures impactful. Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland noted that provincial leaders support a strong Canadian response and mentioned the importance of critical minerals and metals in their discussions.
