No such pivot happening. GE has dropped the ball on delivering the F404 engines on time (delayed for more than two years now) for Tejas. So HAL chairman already visited Russia to also start talks on getting another engine deal. They also signed the AL 31 FP engine production deal. The trust has gone so low that the entire episode is making people believe this was a deliberate sabotage. HAL officially tried to deny press reports that it invoked penalty clauses against GE.

In fact there seems to be an impression that US platform is being pushed where there is an indigenous alternative and no Russian competition. India was never going for the Kamovs anyways. It built a domestic alternative but wanted to keep Kamov as contingency in case the domestic one has issues.

Except for the P8Is and M777, there are no success story in this oversold PR story that news agencies like Bloomberg publish every six months. And these are mediocre success stories at best. F414 deal is not happening. At this point there is a correlation. Any deal promoted by Biden and White House with all the ticker tapes around it would not happen ultimately. The article puts in the end the issues, which pretty much negates everything that it tries to claim.

The relationship has peaked and it will go down from now on. At least they should bother sending a proper serious ambassador like Ken Juster instead of the former LA mayor next time and refrain from planting these kind of stories. Mr Garcetti has turned the relationship into a wreckage just like how he broke LA.
