It’s not her fault that she’s an addict but it is her responsibility to stay away from the bookies

She might be responsible for her own actions and how to manage her addiction but that doesn’t take away from the fact that there’s something predatory about betting shops, as mentioned in the article:

    > It comes as BBC analysis suggests about one in five gambling premises are in Wales’ poorest areas. An expert in the psychology of gambling called clusters of betting shops in deprived areas “a huge problem”.

    No sympathy.

    Marriage doesn’t equal happiness.

    Dopamine squirts do.

A woman who spent her wedding night secretly losing all the money she and her wife had been gifted has accused betting companies of “predatory” behaviour.

More like you wanted to make more money than you have by spending money on something that MAY just give you more money

Yeah but, as per comments from another sub, they pay their 20% tax business rates so it’s okay for them to pray on the vulnerable. /s

Gambling on your wedding night doesn’t sound like financial desperation, seems like a reasonable sounding excuse for chasing that impossible high.

  7. Labour need to get themselves out of the pocket of the gambling industry and just ban gambling adverts once for all, and force them to have bland, unappealing shop frontages.

Gambling companies are a stain on society – they’re predatory despite the false “we believe in limits, when you think it’s enough then it’s enough” non-sense statements to somehow stop addicts or people from gambling. Addicts will gamble until they have nothing left, not when some slogan tells them they’re done.

If not the above, then just because the adverts are just irritating. The Betfair one with the ponce in yellow is possibly the most annoying advert on TV, and the new version somehow excels in being even more annoying.

  8. Unpopular opinion but all forms of gambling and betting should be banned. The fact it’s so commonplace in this country and there are so many bookies is a disgrace.
