  1. That happens when people vote for the left since they have shown time and time again that they have no problem with censoring people if they disagree or don’t like the discussion. ( see gender debate)

Don’t be shocked if government abuse this law to censoring stuff they don’t like.

It feels careless and kind of off somehow and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it will be overall good or better than not doing anything, but seems like it will push kids to workaround it and end up in darker areas and we’ll be worse off. Are they going to ban the use of VPN next? Crazy changing times we are in. Thanks for sharing, very interesting.

  3. Brace for a mandatory government login to access the Net. Sayōnara to anonymity (and jail/fines for using a VPN). Of course, those for whom the Big Brother infrastructure will be built will be the first to find ways around it.

  4. >The blanket ban, passed late Thursday night, establishes some of the most stringent internet usage restrictions outside of China and other non-democratic regimes and could provide impetus to other governments to act.

    Hooray for us?

Curious does this mean no Xbox Live and Steam or is it mainly Facebook/IG?

“The ban – which will not take effect for at least 12 months – could see tech companies fined up to A$50m ($32.5m; £25.7m) if they don’t comply.”

The govt put the pressure on the tech companies instead of the kids. Smart move, another revenue generating outlet for the government.
