I bet they still have time to deal with non crime hate incidents…

Taxes go up, but we have a near 13% budget cut, and 9-5 police stations?

I’m starting to think we’ll never exit this austerity death spiral. Pay more, get less.

Actually police guidelines state they’re not suppose to call it the force anymore as it comes off too aggressive

Don’t speak out on social media or the last bastion of policing will come round and have a word

Does this mean more police for the rest of us? Or is a general cut to put money in other places?

I’m sure there’ll be plenty of spare offices for when somebody somewhere gets offended by something. Meanwhile when an actual crime takes place there won’t be the resources

That’s one way to stop the rape court cases I guess when ever I see the met police in the news it’s for some crime against women and girls

Country is increasingly lawless and the Labour government are gutting the police all whilst they tank in the polls. Bwahahaha.

The fact is, the met police force costs £3.5 billion, that’s three and a half billion pounds. There were 5.5 million offenses in 2023 with just 5.7% resulting in charges, with 39% of incidents resulting in “No suspect Identified”, and these figures are optimistic because a large proportion of offenses were ‘screened out’ which sits at 66% of thefts from vehicles, and 57% of bike thefts – these simply weren’t investigated, at all.

All these figures are available publicly, and to me, this isn’t value for money. What is the point of the police if they only actually charge 5 in 100 crimes, and of course charge doesn’t mean convict, but if 80% resulted in convictions (and remember this includes motoring offenses) then we’re down to 4 in 100.

Maybe we need to restructure and rework the whole system, which, despite the most authoritarian laws in the 1st world, still provides really poor value for money. The government cannot change the police, all they can do is set funding.

I personally, would love an effective police force, trust me on that, but its not what we’ve got right now.

  10. They are already rumoured to be losing hundreds a month through people leaving and aren’t getting hardly anyone in.

Then there’s officers quitting specialist roles because of weak management and media driven political trials.

I wouldn’t be living in London that’s for sure nowadays. If it carries on the way it is I doubt they’ll be able to protect the public.

  11. >The cuts would place police force numbers back to 2013 levels, with the force already believed to be dropping to 32,750 officers by March from its current 35,415.

Lunacy. Despite the population of London growing, its services aren’t.

I can’t read that article, the mirror is absolutely awful. The other source on these figures is the Scum which I refuse to glance at. Is there another source for these figures? The only other information I could find was that the budget hasn’t been confirmed and they are still in talks.

If we are going to have a revolt, can we please not name it the Peasants Revolt this time. I will take Poor People Unite, The Great Rising anything is better than the Peasants Revolt, also can we have a better outcome than the last one, definitely no heads on bridges.

I’m all for efficiency savings but this amount is sabotage. It’s going to cost more than it saves. There’s too many crimes and too few officers already.

People are comparing the budget to 2012 but violent crime have double in London since then to now from 10,000 to 22,000 incidents a month.

There’s many ways to raise funds and people shouldn’t accept these cuts under the guise of budget cuts.
