Looks like it just exploded?
“Close up”? That doesn’t seem like the right term for it.
Combining images from multiple telescopes like this takes insane precision. This isn’t just adding images together to reduce noise, it’s about combing the light itself so the images interfere and create a virtual massive telescope. If you’ve even coughed around an interferometer you’ll get how precise this has to be. I’m excited for everything else that comes out of this telescope array.
Don’t aim the telescope at Mordor. The Eye is always watching.
Probably a dumb question, but why wouldn’t they use this tech to image a star much closer to our own? Wouldn’t the image be clearer?
I wonder if we’ll ever find a planet outside of our galaxy. That would be amazing.
That’s a better image than some security cameras.
