How about not wasting our money and giving it to his friends in the first place, instead of a lame attempt to bribe us with our own money?

Election must be around the corner again. Trudeau is pretending he gives a shit and trying to buy your votes with a couple hundred dollar hand out that will end up costing far more down the line.

I am sure struggling parents are overjoyed they can now afford that PS5 their kids have been wanting for Christmas. What an absolute joke.

  5. Oh boy a $250 cheque that will inevitably drive up inflation and cost me far more in the long run. I can’t wait!

Here’s a thought; How about not printing money and inflating the currency supply which is causing more inflation which is the real problem at hand?

I diskiked this when the Sask Party did it, and I dislike it now. It’s a small band aid that changes nothing and costs a fortune.

It’s just going to cost is more in debt servicing.

Maybe use it to buy something useful.

Kind of wish he used that money to find a way to cut my monthly grocery bills in half for the next year.

On that note if food companies profits next year go up by 6 billion, going to be pissed.

$6b is about a subway line. I’m sure that would be more beneficial

🎉great, so with my $150k salary, I can now afford to buy some beers and watch the kids play on their new PS5 … because prior to that announcement the $12 cost of GST would have held me back.

FFS, can we maybe apply that money to the deficit, invest in medical care, maybe build some houses? No, you get $250 and you get $250 (well, except you pensioner and not you, you’re on disability).

🤡show. Reverse this decision and fire everyone who thought it was a good idea and use the savings to hire back those CRA term employees.

Man…the CERB payments are still haunting many including this government. Stop sending money.

Ok, dropping GST, I will take that even though by list it won’t help my household much.

How about dropping the Carbon tax? That covers almost anything.

  13. well at least we know the NDP is selling out Canada to support this…………….

  14. at this point you either A) need a second passport B) a plot of land to sustain yourself when this all goes to shit.

    this country is beyond fucked.

  15. I wish there was a way to protest this spending by not paying my taxes . $6 billion could be spent on important things . To begin with strengthening our defence or fixing the economy. The priorities of this government 😥

What are the administrative costs to business to adjust what is no longer taxed on a temporary basis? It must be enormous.

Aside from the colossal waste of national revenue on a nearly meaningless gesture by a government scrambling to do anything to stay alive, this is yet another example of the financial incompetence of Trudeau and his trust fund friends.

50+ billion dollar deficit. Imagine what that could have bought. Had he not doubled the debt it would be 25 billion. Imagine what that buys. Now doesn’t that put this all in context?

Just call the election already and get out over with. This desperate act just digs a bigger hole for whoever comes next

  19. imagine what 6b here and 3b from ford can be used for, imagine the nurses and doctors we wont lose to the private sectors?imagine the amount of hospitals that can be built?i swear canadians politicians are just slimy weasels all around

  20. MapleMaScoot on

Fuck this sack of shit. Wasting our taxes on nothing but bribery.

  21. Alextryingforgrate on

Maybe just get rid of GST all together if you really want to buy votes.

  22. kheeshbabab on

What a total idiot. Add to the fiscal deficit by relaxing tax on the majority of non essential stuff, and to inflation and against BoC targets so rates don’t come down and business struggle with higher cost of borrowing. These guys have no econ understanding.

They think bribing will help em sway support in favor.

  23. 3BordersPeak on

So… What is the ulterior motive to this? Because I know the government doesn’t just do shit to be charitable. There’s some reason behind this or something to be gained.
