Scary as this probably was for the passengers, I have to admit this is quite the entertaining read. Also good to see that people stood up for themselves to restrain this guy.
A side note – there is no way he could have opened the door until the plane had descended a fair ways. Aircraft doors open inward; at altitude, you’d have to exert a ludicrous amount of force to overcome the positive pressure in the plane. This is far more than a human is capable of even in extreme circumstances.
Dude deserved a duct-taping and then an ass-whopping by trying to murder a plane full of passengers.
Why don’t they just give flight crews handcuffs.

With how often this seems to happen you’d think they would have proper restrains onboard incase this happens. However every time them seem to have ducttape lol… so I guess that counts as a proper restraint
