“In an open letter, lawyer Tim Danson said the parole board recently told the families that they would not be allowed to attend next week’s hearing in person, indicating that the parole board is “unable to ensure safety and security of all hearing attendees.”

Um… what the fuck? This is a high security prisoner. What the hell do they mean they can’t ensure the safety of everyone in the room? How is the parole board itself safe? This is really fucked up.

Where is the PBC transparency? NO explanation? So much for victim’s rights.

In addition to having been convicted of multiple murders and many other offences, Bernardo was also designated a dangerous offender when he was sentenced long ago. Couple all this with his notoriety makes it highly unlikely he will ever gain parole.

I would sure like to know what the security concerns are. He shouldn’t be in that prison if there are security concerns!

The parole board reversed their decision and will now allow the families of the victims to give their victim impact statements in person.

This whole situation against the backdrop of the “let’s give everyone another chance” policy is so scary!! We have hardcore serial killers that won’t get the punishment they deserve because of our legal system.

  7. Why does he have any access to parole? I thought he was deemed a dangerous offender??

  8. If the victims and the families of victims want to attend they should be handed a bag of rotten fruit and eggs at the door.
