      He is a Dutch American who was the US ambassador to the Netherlands during Trump’s first term. Also the photo in the article is of an EU Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra for some reason.

      Irrelevant. The ambassador will have no influence over any U.S. policy decisions affecting Canada.

      when he was ambassador to the Netherlands he was interfered in local politics.

      This was the fun anti-muslim asshole who was fundraising for far-right political parties in the Netherlands at the US Embassy.

      He doesn’t even view us as important enough to give the job to a WWE wrestler or a daytime TV doctor. At least he’s not a felon, so that makes things a bit easier at the border.

      So before I even start reading this thread…I’m going to assume this “nominee” has shards of illegal douchebaggery in his past. Sigh…it’s too late to look it up. Thanks to anyone who does it for me.

      Doesn’t matter who it is. We have to find a way to work with them to make Canada better. Nothing else really matters. This isn’t personal and we shouldn’t let it get personal. Just need to get the most out of the US relationship
