Plenty of narrow and winding streets where I live. My 4yo Ford Ranger regularly alerts me jarringly to an impending crash, when I’m just going around a corner where I need to stay tight in to the cars parked at the side of the road. I dread the day it slams on the brakes during one of these frequent false alarms and I get rear-ended. They need to test this stuff in diverse real world conditions.

Mine very nearly got me creamed by a semi truck when it went off unexpectedly while doing a u turn on a busy street.

Automatic braking is an automatic no from me, that shit does not work well at all

  4. This seems just as easy as fully self driving cars, right?
In other words, If autonomous cars actually worked (outside of specific areas in cities), this would just be a semi autonomous variation.

Since that clearly isn’t true I’m sure this feature will be both expensive and have lots of false positives (unexpected breaking).

A lot of people here with negative opinions on automatic braking and I’m not sure why. I’ve driven cars with it for years and I’ve never had a problem. Moreover I was recently in a collision, and I very much believe that every one of the systems including assistive braking (I applied the brake on my own but in scenarios like a crash the car modulates the response appropriately) _saved my life_. I wouldn’t drive a car without it.
