      Aren’t time zones rather irrelevant if it’s dark for 24 hours, or light for 24 hours?

      The bits in-between are really not that important.

      At that point when you are in complete dark for 6 months, timezones become irrelevant, so like a machine they all defaulted to UTC +0.

      I say we do away with time zones altogether! Daylight Saving Time, too! Just use Universal Coordinated Time. As smart phones become ubiquitous, with accurate time and sunrise/sunset times instantly available to everyone time zones are obsolete!

      Many bases use the time zone of their gateway city, there’s not many Hobart, Christchurch, Cape Town and…2 in south America
