Not only Germany, but for much of Europe. We now invest more in renewable energy and in 2022 at least some countries had the lowest CO2 emissions in many years.
Destruction of all Russian export in Europe is good for Germany and Europe. Most 20th and 21st century problems were because of trade with authoritarian USSR/Russia.
If West didn’t industrialize USSR there wouldn’t be not WW2, not so much authoritarian regimes with nukes, not modern authoritarian Renaissance.
In my opinion, the use of these fossil resources should be limited to what is “too difficult or impossible to replace”: chemicals, specific plastics, industrial furnace systems, etc.
Germany did it!
I think we all knew it was good for Germany at the time, in fact, we all knew it was good for everyone involved except the Russians. And perhaps a select few individuals and corporations. But on the whole… it needed to happen because of the lack of political will to stop suckling at Russia’s teat.
Thats true. Nordstream was developed as a weapon against Germany.
Hopefully happens to more russian pipes as they help finance a genocide.
Well as a German I don’t like this opinion. Yes it freed us from the dependence of Russia, at least a little bit. I’m sure that or incompetent leaders wouldn’t have helped Ukraine this much when nord steam still exists. But it did hurt our economy really bad. The prices did explode bad then. We have to support Ukraine with everything we have now but when this is over we have to talk.
