Edward wrote to me privately asking me to help the boys he was taking care of. I started checking his profiles on social media, looked through all the information I could and was impressed. Here in Ukraine, we receive a lot of help from different parts of the world, both financially and in the form of humanitarian aid. I personally know foreign volunteers who help on a regular basis. But life in Ukraine is very hard (I try to show what I love about my country) and people who come here to help in our struggle and volunteer often do not take away the harsh reality. But not Edward. This is a man who sees all the shortcomings of our country, bureaucracy, corruption, injustice (I’m sure he has seen it all.) But he is still here.I hope that despite all the dirt he saw here, he found something worth fighting for.
