      I really wonder how that will go over with his party and base.

      One of the things that people always bragged about compared to other parties is he let his MPs do as they please and have opinions. Turns out none of that was true when the opinion go against PPs goals of power. Interestingly enough this does shine some like on what he may support when in power given what he does and doesn’t let his MPs do and say.

      I guess when you spend all your time calling everyone a dictator…

      It’s the Harper way .
      Pierre the lifelong politician was there and knows how important it is to keep the clowns in the car.
      except Harper didn’t have trump and social media to contend with .
      It’s time our media and people started asking his MPs those opinions. My mp just keeps sending a form letter in politician talk that answers nothing when I ask questions.

      Harper did the same thing. He had a tight leash on his MPs. It was a coalition of right-wing schools of thought with a common hate for the Liberals. And the CPC is still very much a coalition.

      However, towards the end of his tenure, Harper started to slowly lose control. Eventually, his MPs got tired of being muzzled for so long. The same thing will happen to Poilievre as Prime Minister.

      Right now, I’m sure they’re happy keeping their heads down, because the CPC is going to win a majority government, unless they screw up badly. They are probably fine holding back until they gain power. But once in power, even in a second term, Poilievre will have trouble dealing with dissent. Particularly, the fringe side of the CPC.

      I do not believe Poilievre is fully fringe. He simply panders to this wing, which is problematic. But this wing has left the CPC before to support the People’s Party, and they could again if they feel the Poilievre isn’t doing enough to satisfy their wants. Eventually, they’ll ask for something too unpopular even for Poilievre, and when he doesn’t deliver, they will dissent.

      Anyways, none of his MPs will rebel when they know they are so close to power. Yet they won’t stay quiet forever.
