      The US is temporarily closing its embassy in Kyiv after receiving what it says is “specific information of a potential significant air attack on November 20”.
      “Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy will be closed, and Embassy employees are being instructed to shelter in place,” the US Department of State Consular Affairs said in a post on X.
      “The US Embassy recommends US citizens be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced.”
      The news comes just days after the Biden administration announced it would allow US-made weapons to be fired into Russia.
      Moscow said yesterday that Ukraine had hit Russia with six long-range ATACMS missiles supplied by the US.

      This is pretty concerning, anyone able to comment on whether there’s much precedence for this?

      The justifications of aggression by Russia are moronic from my “biased Western” understandings… Why is Russia invading Ukraine, from a diplomatic excuse?

      If Russia so much as scratched a US embassy, wouldn’t that be considered an attack on US soil?

      Isn’t that attacking a nation’s embassy is sort of equivalent to attacking that nation’s own soil? IF Russia does attack US Embassy in Kyiv, doesn’t that count almost as direct attack the U.S.? What would the U.S. do will speak a lot for itself.

      Spain, Greece and Italy are warning about the same and closed their embassies as well, if I am not mistaken.

      In a way, it is too bad. If the US embassy were hit, it would give the US a good reason to throw much more weight behind Ukraine and we would have a harder time abandoning Ukraine when Trump takes office.

      This is, of course, an easy thing for me to say as someone who doesn’t work at the American Embassy in Kyiv.
