Crazy that we’re bankrolling lunch for Ukrainian kids before our own kids

Not saying we shouldn’t be helping them out but if there’s money for social services shouldn’t there be money for existential threats like war?

I must say I’m surprised with the amount of comments that attempt to portray this as a bad thing or a waste of money.

Almost as if people are implying ensuring that a nations youth actually has something to eat is a bad thing. Kids whose parents may very well be involved in the war, risking their lives. Tho I am admittedly out of the loop in the current quality of life in ukraine, I’d imagine the war worsened poverty rates and/or caused families to struggle for food too.

In Canada, “Loblaws” our largest Grocery chain has cancelled its school lunch donation program.

“I am on my kids’ school council where parents help and support the school. This year we had our budget for our NUTRION FOR LEARNING (NFL) programs in Waterloo Region drop from 1000 to 100$ / month.

**One of the major contributors was the PC Children’s Charity which gave grants to this food program yearly.**”

I was just informed that there was NO donations this year and the school’s application for the grant program was denied.

What a leader. I was impressed with him back in 2021 for sure, but my respect for him has only grown.
