    New York / Tokyo, 19th – Reuters – Sony (6758.T) is in talks to acquire KADOKAWA (9468.T), according to two sources familiar with the matter. If the negotiations are successful, a deal could be finalized within a few weeks.

    Sony declined to comment, and KADOKAWA also stated that it could not provide a comment.

    Sony already holds 2% of KADOKAWA shares and has invested in FromSoftware, the developer of the popular RPG game Elden Ring, which is a subsidiary of KADOKAWA.

    The Sony Group has transformed from a consumer electronics company to a diversified conglomerate with a strong focus on entertainment, including movies, music, games, and semiconductors. Sony is looking to increase the number of entertainment-related subsidiaries under its umbrella.
