      If you read the article, Berlin police did not issue a formal warning of any kind. Berlin’s police chief, during an interview, said some things about how visibly Jewish or LGBTQ people might be safer avoiding certain areas.

      I’m not denying that there’s a genuine issue here, but the headline is very misleading.

      I wanted to move to Germany before the plague, but was apprehensive because I could see this coming. What’s more concerning for me would be the eventual blowback when people get frustrated and vote in extremists.

      Peace and civility was good while it lasted I guess.

      I feel like people are really misinterpreting this in the most cynical possible way. The police are not saying they condone of the behavior or that they think this is a permanent solution. They are communicating a current situation to the public that will aid them in maintaining public safety. This is something that law enforcement agencies and countries do all the time.
