      I cannot imagine. that would be horrible.

      I had a similar experience and it is still hard to deal with. I had a cousin who reconnected with the family after growing up with his mom’s side from a young age. He didn’t have any real understanding of the family dynamics he stepped into, and he was also quite inexperienced with life in general.

      When my uncle, whom I was extremely close to died in a freak car accident, my new cousin found out before me. Without knowing who my uncle was to me, my cousin broke the news in a text. He simply said “did you hear about “J”? My dad said “J” was killed this morning.” It was a shock.

      My cousin never even met “J”.

      Honestly, it hurts no matter how you find out. Just stung more getting the info from someone who just thought this information was gossip.
