    It wasn’t a “brutal takedown.” It was truthful but they barely scratched the surface of just how insane his picks are.

  2. Underp0pulation on

    Coming soon to a country near you- A free press that is no longer free. Years of nonstop lies about the “radical left” (that, seriously doesn’t exist) helped create the situation that we now find ourselves in.

  3. When I see the words “brutal takedown” I’m expecting the video to sound a lot more like a commercial for a monster truck rally and a lot less like an ad for the Calm app.

  4. ranchoparksteve on

    Are we all supposed to pretend that Trump knows how to cast his new show?

  5. VegetarianZombie74 on

    I mean, what doesn’t spark right wing backlash? It’s all outrage for those folks. All the time.

  6. prodigalpariah on

    The brutal takedown is literally just naming the picks and describing the controversies around them.

  7. It seems like the ‘fuck your feelings’ crowd has a lot of feelings.

    What a world we live in now where a standard 60 Minutes monologue is called a brutal takedown. They’re one of the last few legitimate journalism shows we have left along with PBS Frontline.

  9. Fellow Americans,

    You are waking up, as Germany once did, to the awareness that 1/3 of your people would kill another 1/3, while 1/3 watches.

  10. H0bbituary on

    This is barely on the fringes of responsible journalism. It is the gentlest takedown I’ve ever seen.

    President Musk is picking very unqualified people, but at least he’s embracing DEI hiring.

    For Republicans the truth, facts, rational thinking, reality are all brutal and the dont want anything to do with that silly stuff. Seriously though as long as republicans are in charge they think everything is great. If democrats are in charge everything is bad. That seems to be as far as their thinking can manage. They really dont seem to care about reality anymore.

  13. # THEY DON’T CARE, THIS IS FAUX OUTRAGE BY THE RIGHT!

    They have no shame and couldn’t care less what’s said about them as long as they can make money off of Joe sixpack.

    At this time, with the architect of Project 2025 being tapped for the FCC, CBS and 60 Minutes are by no means unassailable. As some of the most professional of journalists on television, this fact cannot be lost to them. And yet they ran this segment, knowing what may be in store after the January inauguration.

    I just wanted to say that this is a laudatory act of courage. I salute CBS News and 60 Minutes for their commitment to the truth, and hope that they will weather the coming storm.

    When aren’t Republicans outraged?

    “Right wing backlash spiked due to:

    (Pick one)

    * Biden said something

    * It’s too hot

    * It’s too cold

    * Vegetarians exist

    * A child experienced joy

    * A single mother sat down for a minute ”

    Their existence is outrage

    I had to go watch this for myself, I was actually hoping for some brutality. This was the most bland statement of just pure facts I have seen in a while. There was no hyperbole or mischaracterizations, he even threw in denials when appropriate. I don’t know what all the backlash is.

    “CENSORSHIP WILL KILL THIS COUNTRY”

    *60 minutes does a thing*

    “CANCEL 60 MINUTES!”

  18. Thirdnipple79 on

    This is the problem – most media now instead of reporting the facts straight up try to appear fair by trying to make trump seem reasonable.  Trump talking about arnold palmers dick, yeah but Harris didn’t give enough details on something.  Trump guilty of sexual assault, yeah but Harris misspoke about something.  And forget about mentioning trumps lack of planning, the top secret documents in his shitter, one of the 10000 things he’s done that should completely disqualify him from even being an intern at a government agency.

    >rightwing backlash/outrage.

    Shocker. The perpetually outraged are outraged because, once again, the truth hurts their feelings. They are the sorest, most miserable winners that have ever walked.

  20. AltoidStrong on

    The fact they are upset about it, means it was great. More of this needs to happen and keep happening.

    Speak up people! Our voices are all.we have left, the next opportunity for change is 2 years. (Midterm elections).

    How is the truth with no opinions a “takedown”

    He’s appointing unqualified clowns, that is sadly the truth.

    **”In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”** -Author Undetermined (Usually attributed to Orwell, though he never actually said/wrote it).

  23. Atomic_Badger_PNW on

    So much for free speech absolutism. Elon Musk is certifiably insane with his MAGA love affair.

  24. PuppiesAndPixels on

    It was a dry, straightforward listing of facts without commentary. I wouldn’t call that “a brutal takedown”.

    No surprise MAGATS are flipping out though.

  25. Tackysackjones on

    Christ. They just stated facts. There’s nothing brutal about the truth.

  26. What a bunch of snowflakes! All you need to do for a “brutal takedown” is to state facts.

  27. Brutal Takedown?

    Pelley laid out facts. Not a single editorial comment or opinion.

    What a bunch of snowflakes

  28. RiseUp1973 on

    Great segment, but makes you wonder how much longer we will free press with all the fake uproar

    >the likes of Pete Hegseth, Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F Kennedy Jr have “no compelling qualifications” and “no government experience” to take up the jobs they’ve been nominated for.

    When your goal is to demolish the democracy, you don’t need qualifications.

  30. kokopelleee on

    It was not a

    > brutal takedown

    It was an honest review of the people nominated. Gaetz has no qualifications to be AG. Hegseth has no qualifications to run Defense.

    That’s just reality.

  31. Let’s be real: MAGA doesn’t watch 60 Minutes. 95% of them will never know.

  32. lol it’s pretty funny how they didn’t even take any sides they just stated the facts

  33. commanderclif on

    I like how “right wing backlash” is always their response to “real world truth”. Bunch of right wing snowflakes. If you are going to destroy democracy, don’t expect us to sit here and not call you out for your shit.

  34. Patriot009 on

    Trump demanding recess appointments is basically him admitting that he knows his picks would struggle to get confirmed. Trump is tacitly confessing that his picks are unqualified trash and naked cronyism. Edit: I guess MAGA has officially dropped the whole “Drain the Swamp” mantra. Anyone defending these picks is 100% in support of crony capitalism.
