“So how would you like it if there were no more new doctors or engineers by the year 2028?”

  2. So currently the USA ranks in 13th place worldwide in education… watch that space. Once the GOP have Trump bibles in every classroom, no math or science, lots of smoke and mirrors, then they’ll be importing people for every leadership position in every major company just so they can keep the lights on but of course… Hillary’s emails and Hunter’s laptop while they really will be eating the dogs and cats because the price of eggs will be through the roof.

So no department of education and a department of health run by an antivacxer that wants to ban new drugs for 8 years.

Wow, guess people deserve what they vote for. If I was an America pharma company I’d be moving overseas right now.

Keeping the people poor and stupid is the best way for republicans to secure future votes and keep them in power.

Well you know they’ve always said ignorance is bliss… seems like that’s the Trumpublican party’s goal.

  6. Honestly if this administration turns out as bad as it seems, I guess there’s always the option to just kill myself.

I’m hoping this man doesn’t understand what he’s talking about because the Department of Education does a lot of good in this country. Many children rely on it to eat two meals a day, many disabled children get care at school through this and so many rural schools across the country heavily rely on federal funding to get by. In many rural communities the school system is the largest employer and so a lot of red state America depends upon it. You wonder how many more ghost towns we would have if schools close due to a lack of a local tax base to keep them open.

This doesn’t even make sense because standards and curriculum are already done by the states. They’re cutting Pell grants, special education and many other things. I agree, it needed a redesign but not blowing it up

I keep hoping this kind of statement is an open in gambit to get…something. I can’t figure out what they’re angling for but “make America stupid again” seems against everyone’s best interest, no? Call me an elder millennial but I remember the fear mongering about competing with China in science and math, apparently we’re giving that up? And how does that long-term help our economy at all? Maybe they want significant clamp-down control on content in curriculum but I fail to see how deleting an entire federal agency helps literally anyone.

Takes an act of Congress to get rid of the Department of Education, a lot of dumb frackers in Trump’s world.

This is really a national security issue. Unless our kids can compete with other countries we are gonna fall behind. When they are dominating the tech space their militaries are gonna surpass us.

Not only that it’s also an economic issue. Better companies are gonna develop overseas and they are gonna take that money over there.

Well that’s a terrifying thought, they don’t want middle class kids to have the same opportunities as wealthy ones, Musk wants them to be workers, not have college opportunities, Did they elect Musk? Apparently!

Republicans think getting rid of the DoE will let them control what’s taught in schools, but that actually happens at the state and county level.

Rural voters and kids with disabilities will be hurt the worst, and good luck being poor or middle class and trying to go to college – no more guaranteed student loans. I don’t know why Republicans are so against the free- and reduced lunch program but I guess it’s WAY more important to assure that the ultra rich get tax cuts than feed kids.

Edit: Most states get about 10% of their school budgets from the federal government, so if they cut the DoE, this cost will be passed onto homeowners in the form of higher property taxes.
