>”Vladimir Putin has said that NATO should accept “new territorial realities” ahead of any talks to end the war he started, during a phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that has sparked concern from Kyiv.
>In the first call between the leaders since December 2022, Putin repeated Kremlin rhetoric that the “current crisis” was caused by “many years of aggressive NATO policy aimed at creating an anti-Russian bridgehead on Ukrainian territory,” according to a Kremlin readout.
>Putin also noted how NATO and the West were guilty of “ignoring the interests of our country in the field of security and trampling on the rights of Russian-speaking residents.” Newsweek has contacted the German Foreign Ministry for comment. Any negotiations should take into account Russian interests and proceed from new territorial realities, and most importantly, eliminate the root causes of the conflict.”
Putin knows his orange puppet is going to back him up. This isn’t saber rattling, this is moving the chessboard pieces together so they make one precise attack. It’s up to NATO now to have some fucking balls and deny any veracity of whatever the fuck Lil Pu is talking about, and downplay Trump’s involvement in this, because we all know he’s going to break it up.

Russian propoganda. This wasn’t true when Russia started this war in 2014. The Ukraine parliment voted on increased ties to the west and the EU. The president of Ukraine (Yanukovych) ignored that and tried to increase ties to Russia. There was no suggestion of NATO involvement. Yanukovych was ousted by parlimentary vote and Russia invaded.

Well good for you providing that military aid and not being shy to tell everyone about it. Meanwhile European countries have taken in 6 million Ukrainian refugees…
In the EU they are given housing, welfare, medical care, access to education for their children and the right to work. How much do you think that costs ? Had you even heard about it? Probably not as it would be drowned out by the sound of the USA patting itself on the back and telling everyone how wonderful it is,

Well it will be interesting how this plays out.
Putin clearly feels very emboldened by Trump’s win, and he fully expects NATO and Europe to get told to get in line by Trump.
We all know Trump is Putin’s favorite hemorrhoid.
However, forcing Trump to stop pussyfooting and start ordering NATO around might backfire, because it’s bad optics for Trump.
Europeans have no reason to tolerate both tariffs on trade AND security abandonment by the US.
It would basically mean that Europe has the same relationship with Trump’s US as it already has with China. So, not hostile, but not very friendly either.
And then the question what to do with US troops and bases in Europe would quickly come up – if NATO doesn’t want to defend Europe, then why are they here?
Shouldn’t they pack up and go back to America? America First etcetera? But that would be seen as diminishing the US global power, now wouldn’t it?
Europe would be left to fend for itself, which I think, as a European, may not be such a bad thing. But on the other hand no more US presence means no more US influence.
And let’s not forget that Russia is a nuclear power on Europe’s doorstep. One of the reasons NATO was created in the first place was to prevent nuclear proliferation.
Only France and the UK have nukes right now. But if you remove NATO from the equation, it won’t take long before more countries start thinking about making theirs, to deter Russia.
Is a non-ally Trump going to stop them? How exactly? By imposing even more tariffs?
n_mcrae_1982 on
I’m guessing those “new territorial realities” he thinks NATO should accept don’t include Ukraine controlling the Kursk region.

Fuck this guy. He can’t even defend his own borders even with help from another country. They are having problems with those North Korean soldiers over desertion and a very difficult time to get the soldiers to stop just sitting in their tent watching porn. Seriously, they don’t have the Internet in NK and porn is banned. Putin’s troops were drafted and North Korea is holding their troops entire families hostage. Neither of those armies want to be there and it’s hard to beat people determined to defend their homeland as Putin has learned.
I would prefer it if we could skip right over the Neville Chamberland part and go right to the “burning Moscow to the ground Napoleon-style” part. Putin has been our adversary since before the Cold War ended and Russia has harried that entire region for hundreds of years. Putin started this war, not Ukraine and Ukraine has been working towards joining NATO since Bill Clinton was in office and convinced them to give up their nuclear weapons which, if they still had would all be comfy in their homes right now. The geographic reality there is that Russia as a nation should be broken up into smaller regional countries. Russia can’t even move their army anywhere efficiently and they don’t have the ability to do much but drive their tanks place and their military hardware is aging and often just doesn’t work. If China sat it out we could beat Russia and North Korea without the rest of NATO’s help in less than 48 hours. Since Catherine the Great, Russia has demonstrated over and over again that they are a danger to the entire world and that governance should be taken away from them until their nation and leadership can be rebuilt.
The Russian people could remedy this situation by overthrowing their government and honoring their Constitution. We would all welcome Russia back to the world if they could ever manage to be peaceful enough that Europe won’t be afraid of them for another quarter of a millennium.
