> He added of his character, “And I don’t really have an answer to that. It was how it was written and I think he’s despicable, really.”

The ditzy, clumsy style of the character makes him likable. I don’t want Ryan Gosling from Crazy Stupid Love when I watch Notting Hill, I want Hugh Grant’s soft character.

He’s charismatic in his own way. The way he lets her go and tears at your heart is the point. You can feel the emotional pain.
