And now I am here, posting on the Internet in potato resolution, yay!!!! You can see some crops [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/C-bLxCmStSc/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==). Sorry I have to link externally, I thought I can merge them all into one post here.

I’ve been working on this piece for a while and am finally happy to call it done. It is composed of 206 individual images of the Sun during the Total Eclipse. The images of the partial phase were taken with a my Meade glass white light solar filter, while the Total outer corona shot was taken with the filter off.

I used a Nikon Z8 and Nikon Z 800mm f/6.3 S with the Z 2x TC to achieve a 1600mm focal length. I started off with a baseline shutter speed of 1/500 @ f/13 and ISO 500 for the partial phases. I bracketed each shot which came in handy as some thin clouds were passing by during this time and I had to use some shots with a 1/125 shutter speed. I manually aligned and stitched each of these phases in 8 separate PSB documents which had a resolution of 50,000×50,000 pixels. I had to do this method to keep file sizes and workability manageable. I then merged the layers from the 8 files and created one big mega document at 300,000×300,000 pixels. This is the biggest file size PS allows you to create. My computer did not like this one bit.

I then added in the one image of the outer corona which was shot at 1/10, f/13, ISO 500. I call this 300k pixel file the master. I then how to downscale it to save as JPEG which has a maximum of 65k pixels in 1:1 aspect ratio. I also downscaled it to save as a TIFF with a maximum resolution of 26,500×26,500 pixels as the maximum file size for a TIFF is 4 GB. Then course here I am, downscaling it even further to share on reddit. But, I did some full resolution crops before downscaling so you can see the detail of each 45MP individual Sun.

Thanks for reminding me of one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. 🙂
