Oh please… if X is that scary, then don’t use it.
Fuck Twitter’s shareholders and the judge that forced this move through.
You had the ability to stop Elon Musk from buying Twitter. But no.
Unless there is mass abandonment of the platform.
Which is clearly what X deserves.
Can’t believe actual people are still using Musk’s social media platform. What a cesspool.
And how this change puts anyone at risk? Everyone can see twitter posts even if they are blocked they can see posts without loging in and even if twitter force them to login no one is stopping them from creating second account. This whole topic is just standard nothing-burger topic created by media to divert attention from other topics.
If something is posted on the internet then it is public anyway. Trying to block some users from looking at something others can see is pointless
I don’t think it changes anything. People can just open a new account anyway to see posts. But it’s a dumb change anyway.
Can’t you just logout and see the posts anyways?
It’s like a bad relationship. You can always leave.
You should leave.
I’m still dying to know what information you can only get on X? I’ve never really used it even with an account. The only time I see tweets is when news is reporting various “hot takes” from users.
Why is anyone still on Twitter?
This likely breaks Google and Apple store Tos.
If theyre still using twitter while trying to avoid whatever dangers this article is alluding to, tbh theyre just stupid
I don’t see the big deal? People that are blocked still can’t interact with the posts.
Countless people, disproportionately of certain groups.
Put in definitive danger, disproportionately *from* certain groups.
Serious question, if this puts you in definite danger why wouldn’t you just delete your profile or remove the app like 99% of the world?
Deleted my account.
After the election and if Trump loses, you’ll see the numbers drop. Bots won’t have anything to argue about.
god forbid people see and think what they want…
All they had to do was allow only Elon to view blocked posts and they would have accomplished their task.
Bluesky is the most Twitter-like alternative, in the best way. At least so far; y’all should join us over there.
Honestly I think the outrage over this is stupid. Blocked accounts being unable to see your posts is barely a hindrance anyways. As long as it stops other interactions it’s doing its job right.
I setup a Twitter account way the fuck back when it was not a thing. But left it about a year ago and it’s fine. Do I miss some of the more interesting people I’d follow? No.
As a loudly (and repeatedly) pointed-out side-effect of such a change, it’s impossible to see ‘putting people in direct danger’ as anything *except* a clear, blatant goal of this alteration.
The EU, Google, Apple, et al, need to smack this down *immediately* and go all-in on yanking/banning Elmo’s “service”.
Accountability must be severe and *painful* — or he will utterly ignore it.
I was forced off the site after it was showing me disturbing illegal videos in the auto play feed. There’s no way of turning it off and I had no control over what I was seeing.
I was back on /b in the worst of days and it did not compare to what I witnessed on X.
The worst part is these videos I was subjected to where on the auto play.
His website is recommending gore, snuff, violence and things I can’t mention.
I muted every work possible like violence, death, gore, blood, fight.
Yet I’m still scarred from the videos the website algorithm decided to auto play without my consent.
I’m back on tumblr now and it’s so much better.
On any site, a blocked user can make an alt account and see your public content. If you were depending on a social media site’s block button for your personal safety, that’s on your dumb ass
Nobody is forced to use it. Twitter is gone. X is not the same. Abandon that dumpster fire.
Blocking never worked. It’s like pretending someone doesn’t exist who is still staring in your bedroom window with impunity.
It’s literally a nothingburger change. Just turn on private mode and wow, you can see their posts. Or login to another account.
But I guess saying it will put people in danger will sell ads or something.
I’d say the change in content rights is more worrying than this.
I gotta say, of all the complains about X, this is one I’m mixed on. Tweeting is releasing it to the public at large (except dms).
If you only want selective people to see it, that’s what things like google+ circles or facebook lists are for.
I can’t put up a billboard and expect 1% of the people driving by to not see it.
Well just stop using Twitter, problem solved!
