Meanwhile the UN as a whole backs Palestinian (meaning Hamas) entry into the UN.

If they didn’t have double standards, they’d have none at all.

If Israel is expelled, they realize that Israel is no longer bound by the various UN resolutions.

In theory, a massive carpet bombing by Israel would no longer be in contravention of the UN rules, because it is no longer part of the UN.

The UN is totally captured by Islamists, jihadists and their leftist enablers.

Given how the UN is anti Israeli to its core, that seems very plausible. As long as Iran and their proxies get a seat at the table everyone seems to be happy about it.

  5. That would be a very dangerous move, because while they clearly want to delegitimize Israel, it also means the UN would lose significant funding.

    https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-2012-title22-section287&num=0&edition=2012

“(b) If Israel is illegally expelled, suspended, denied its credentials, or in any other manner denied its right to participate in any principal or subsidiary organ or in any specialized, technical, or other agency of the United Nations, the United States shall suspend its participation in any such organ or agency until the illegal action is reversed. The United States shall reduce its annual assessed contribution to the United Nations or such specialized agency by 8.34 percent for each month in which United States participation is suspended pursuant to this section. Nothing in this section may be construed to diminish or to affect United States participation in the United Nations Security Council or the Safeguards Program of the International Atomic Energy Agency.””

The UN will want to think twice about this one.

Also would be pretty amazing if Russia and North Korea and Iran remain in the UN but not Israel.

Well, if UN is stupid enough to expel Israel from General Assembly, Israel will have free rein on what it can do without any restraint.

And the hypocrisy is palpable when as another user already mentioned Russia getting away with invading independent Ukraine, continue to commit war crimes, Putin is now wanted criminal, no one complain Russia in Security Council etc.

Checks out considering Palestine would like to see Israel expelled from Israel.

Might as well just go back to calling it the League of Nations.

It certainly is run like a league nowadays.

Fine, do it. Makes it even easier for Israel to push the anti-Semitic UN out of the way and finish the war faster. Would be a godsend for them.

Let’s go ahead and file this under the pyrrhic victory section…

The Whole idea of UN is to have a place where every country is represented and can have a voice.

This stupid idea of banning Israel is only supported by idiots with no understanding of how the UN works and why it’s there.

We have had some of the worst human that ever lived speaking at the UN because if they can’t be heard they also can’t be talked to.

“We will orchestrate an invasion into your country, butcher and kidnap unarmed civilians, and then kick from you the UN when your retaliate”

Palestinian bid? Why do they even have a say at the UN? Does the Ottoman Empire have a say? How about ancient Aztecs? What a joke.

  14. Iran probably got proxies in the UN too cuz ain’t no way this should hold up.

  15. HereticBanana on

If a country is going to fire on UN troops, they shouldn’t be a part of the UN.

    Not sure why that’s controversial.

I’m not sure the Palestinians realize how much this could blow up in their faces. The U.S. specifically will cut funding to the UN drastically as soon as this happens, and I imagine any money going to their causes in particular will dry up immediately. I also suspect many Europeans will be unhappy about being circumvented. Israel will have even fewer restrictions for their war in Gaza and will likely retaliate against the West Bank to punish Fatah for getting them kicked out. I would expect a massive crackdown, a tidal wave of newly approved settlements, and even possibly a new official annexation of the West Bank settlements near the border similar to East Jerusalem. They’re already international pariahs so they very well might not care.

  17. You shouldn’t expel un of you don’t expel other countries for committing crimes. UN should at least try to look neutral. It’ll just go down a slippery slope.

Lately it feels like the UN is one decision away from being declared a terrorist organization. They seem to forget that we should never negotiate with terrorists, let alone argue in their favour

  19. At this point israel should leave the UN on their own, it’s an extremely hostile, biased and hypocritical organization. I don’t even know why israel remains there.

Im sure that kicking out a country that you have a land border with and that all aid has to travel though its going to be a great idea.

The Israelis will definitely let the UNICEF branded trucks, pass straight through their terrorist and with no issues at all.

Israel has been dire with aid sure, but this is really shooting yourself in the foot, in fact its shooting yourself more like in the head.
