Good for them personally.
Good for every soldier Putin can’t send to the front.
But basically I don’t want a large number of Russians here as refugees. There are already enough sleeper agents, too many German-Russians, for example, who are predominantly pro-Putin and the Russian population has not cared for too long about what was decided in the Kremlin. It was only when they themselves were at stake that they realised.
Desertion from the Russian army is the smartest decision of a Russian soldier. At the very least, he will save his life and not become an occupier. However, alas, not all Russian soldiers have understood this yet and continue to die because of Putin
Next week 600.000 Russian soldiers will defect.
I hope they will be valuable witnesses for the ICС, otherwise, that isn’t worth it.
I think it’s an incredibly stupid idea to become xenophobic towards Russian *refugees* as a result of this war. It’s a grave strategic error – every draft-dodger who flees to the West is one fewer person Russia is able to send to the front lines, and it plays straight into the hands of Russian propaganda saying that “the West are Russophobic and we are besieged by them”.
I say we should accept everyone. Even Putin supporters. If they commit crimes here, punish them under our laws and send them to our own prisons. A labour/manpower shortage in Russia is the only realistic way of forcing them to make peace short of a large-scale military intervention, and while they are certainly on the *way* there, Ukraine is suffering shortages as well.
If they want to smuggle agents into Europe, they can get them easily. A lot of them are even in our national parliaments – hell, they even have a couple *leaders* in the EU firmly under their thumb. We are already compromised. We are not dealing with a war of intelligence here, we are dealing with a war of attrition.
