I think its great. This will make it easier for me to choose my next dishwasher, since there is one less brand to choose from.
It has not begun, it is going full force. I have all house appliances from VZug and when you connect them in the app, it let’s you know that some programs are only available if you pay for a subscription, which is the most stupid thing and should be forbidden.
You buy a device, you should be able to use everything that it allows. It shouldn’t be allowed to hide internal programs, that the machine can perform behind a paywall.
I wonder how they, after long discussions and analyses, came to the conclusion that this is a good idea.
You will own nothing and you will like it.
Nice, now I have to find a way to crack my dishwasher, oven, etc. Yay…
They also already include ads on some Chinese phones’ settings page, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they start to add waiting time with ads on some features so that you can use them with a delay or buy the « no ad » subscription…
Wouldn’t happen in a socialist economy.
Why/how should you update your dishwasher? To get new data for water hardness? To handle new temperatures?
Much difficult to provide a link to the article, hm?

So the time for jailbreaking dishwashers has come…
I always knew they were up to no good in zug!
Connect any dumb thing to the internet so that hackers can DDOS your ass to oblivion. Usually hardware manufacturers give 0 fucks about security
If they were to put any of the features that were available on the appliance at the time of purchase behind a paywall, that would be considered unethical. Offering an upgrade for a one-time payment is fine, and a subscription model is also acceptable if they have a clear roadmap for improvements and new features. Combining both approaches can be a good practice.
If you don’t plan to roast a beaver and clean your stuff after that, then you shouldn’t have to pay for that extra feature.
Who needs to control their home appliances from an app anyways. Just don’t use the function…
Just say no. The market will listen.
That is some dystopian-tier bullshit. The so called “internet of things” is truly a curse. I would rather use my grandpa’s dishwasher from the 70s (still works, by the way).
Can’t wait to Jailbreak my V-Zug dishwasher.
Well it it called VZUG…
