I’m happy to see ATEEZ nominated for two categories but it feels a bit redundant that they are always placed into some form of Fan Choice. Album of the Year is a nice change so I am stoked to see that opportunity!

I will say that I’m surprised Jennie was nominated for a one off release (I think it’s for you & me since it was nominated for another award) but Lisa wasn’t when she’s released 3 singles already. I thought it was her not being Korean at first but Yuqi was nominated. I guess maybe she didn’t submit for it? Do K-pop artists even submit for these awards? It’s no big deal though cause Tzuyu also wasn’t nominated so it’s okay. Not trying to start anything, I was just curious.
I’m also pleased that fans choice has been separated into male and female categories.

I will always hate on MAMA but hey, 6 nominations for Taemin (probably the most of all soloists?). I don’t have high hopes for most of these awards since they are all sales/streams/votes based, but if they want to set up their Best Choreography category for success/credibility it MUST go to Guilty due to impact alone.

So it looks like one of those year where tracking and eligibility is weird and some songs go into the void. Perfect Night probably one of these songs that was released too late for MAMA 2023 and too early for MAMA 2024.
EDIT: checked and Perfect Night fall into the eligibility period. Did MAMA forgot about the song ?

Idk if it was source or mama but whoever decided to push crazy for nominations count your fucking days. Perfect night has been leading the soty predictions for the entire year and easy went viral amongst dancers, there is no reason to nominate a song that was released like 3 months before the eligibility deadline over those two. I love crazy it’s one of my fave ssera comebacks but it has absolutely no chance to win either category or at least not nearly the same chance perfect night and easy would’ve had

Nominations for lsfm this year are very weird to say the least.
Fearnots wanted Easy to be nominated in ‘Best Choreography’ but fuckass MAMA decided to nominate crazy. Easy literally had one of the best choreos in kpop this year.
Then, perfect night was leading in predictions for Best dance performance female group, but MAMA decided to nominate Easy, even though Easy had less digitals than Perfect night.
Perfect night was also leading in predictions for SOTY(it was at #1), but MAMA decided to nominate Easy and Crazy (even though crazy was released one month ago and it has no digital points).
Its like they don’t want le sserafim to win any award this year, bcoz these nominations make no sense

The only thing they did good this year was changing the Album criteria from:
80% Album sales
20% Judges
To
60% Album sales
40% Judges
Though I honestly would prefer they included percentage for streams in Album daesang as streaming metric have been ruling the music market for years now.

– Song of the Year and no ‘Perfect Night’ ?
– Album of the Year being about 40% judging evaluation and 60% physical album sales is a joke. Should have known that their change in ‘rules’ were too good to be true.
– I’ll never understand how categories like ‘Best Vocal Performance’ who should be based on professionals judging the skills and interpretation is somehow based on streaming numbers or sales.
– At least, Best Music Video and Best Choreography are 100% judges evaluation. I hope “Love wins all” by IU take it.

MAMA just robbed lsfm of any award without saying so. Even though they nominated them for many categories, they didn’t nominate the right songs for those categories.
Like wdym Crazy and Easy nominated for SOTY instead of perfect night when Perfect night was #1 for SOTY according to all prediction account.
Crazy nominated for best choreography when Easy has one of the best choreographies for any kpop songs this year.
