I was just wondering where India was mentioned in the Bible too… 🤔 Maybe, chatGPT has the answer?

How the hell is Jordan not mentioned in the Bible? It was literally mentioned as Transjordan, the land east of the Jordan.

  5. India? Wow, I didn’t know. I must have missed a DLC or something.

  6. The Bible does not explicitly mention India as a nation or region by the name we know today. However, there are some passages that refer to distant territories to the east of Israel, which could possibly include the area of India or nearby regions.

    1. 1 Kings 10:22 and 2 Chronicles 9:21 speak of King Solomon sending ships to “Ophir” to bring back gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks. Some scholars believe Ophir could be a region connected to India or the eastern coast of Africa, though this is not clear.

    2. Esther 1:1 refers to the Persian Empire under Xerxes, which extended “from India to Ethiopia,” indicating that the Persian rule reached the borders of ancient India.

In summary, the Bible does not provide specific details about India, but some mentions of distant lands or exotic products may suggest indirect contact with the region.

Maybe you should clarify that these are countries with places mentioned in the bible rather than countries mentioned in the bible, cause I doubt it mentions multiple countries that weren’t founded until several centuries after it was written

  9. AbominableCrichton on

Scottish football team “Queen of the South” is mentioned in the Bible.

  10. I really don’t think that modern countries are mentioned in The Bible. How the hell South Sudan could be mentioned if this state was established in 2011.

  11. IronRakkasan11 on

I thought god/jesus founded the United States. Wellillbefooked

  12. if you talk only about the hebrew bible then France and Spain are not mentioned. Its a common mistake. The today hebrew name for them is in the hebrew bible but referes to cities in modern day lebnanon.

  13. I am quite certain that virtually none of these countries are mentioned as none or them existed back then

  14. Winter-Basis8038 on

if im not wrong, all the european countries in this are former roman territories?

  15. The modern day versions of these nations and people groups listed in the Bible, though they may share similar names, are effectively different entities today.

  16. KingPeverell on

Probably because there was a local religion existing and thriving in India even from before Christ.

So, this was the little human universe of the god of the Jews and the Christians. Good reason not to care about the bible.

How’d they get all the animals on the ark from those other places, then?

  19. WillingnessFit639 on

Could of sworn Bulgaria and Armenia was mentioned at some point.

  20. Western-Letterhead64 on

    Nice.

I also read that Babylon is the only place mentioned in all the three Abrahamic books. I’m not sure though.

    Edit: city not place.

  21. IGuessSomeLikeItHot on

How is Turkey mentioned in the bible. Turkey didn’t even exist back then.

Ah yes, my favourite moment in the bible was when Jesus invejted a baguette becuase there wasnt any other way to convince France people to not lose their marbles and since them there is a huge basket full of baguettes and stinky cheese near the gates to paradise because otherwise these mf would go with the higheay to hell

  23. elmerfud1075 on
