Couldn’t he just offer a chunky reward to all the guys who work at the tip? For a life changing amount of money I recon he could have them all permanently searching for it instead of doing their jobs.
Actually some of them probably have done which might suggest that finding the thing is more or less impossible. It’s not like the tip have a filling system.

Literally living a joke from a sitcom.
He’s been on about this for absolutely years.
Even if he found it, the hard drive would probably be water damaged anyway.
Seems like this hopeless hunt is consuming his life and he’d be much happier if he forgot all about it and moved on.
He puts his hard drive in a bin bag and his partner takes it to the tip because he told her to, but he meant a different bin bag? I don’t see how that is the counil’s fault, if you dump something valuable in the tip that is your fault, don’t expect the council to search every bin bag in the tip for you. Also, he claims he has all these bitcoins, does he have any proof?
>I’m still allocating 10% of the value for the council even though they have been problematic throughout,” he said. “That would be £41m based on today’s rate but in the future it could be hundreds of millions. If they had spoken to me in 2013 this place would look like Las Vegas now. Newport would look like Dubai.
What? I think it would take abit more than £41m to turn Newport into Vegas or Dubai lol.
I was shaking my head in disbelief reading through this story, but the bit that triggered an outright belly laugh was:
>His team of experts… insist they would “safely excavate” the Newport site in a search assisted by artificial intelligence (AI).
This guy and Liz truss both live on broken brain island. Go to therapy bro.
” Newport would look like Dubai”
Why would Newport want that?
I doubt very much his Bitcoin is even there, it’s more likely someone saw a hard drive dusted it off and sold it to cex.
He would have better luck pooping into his local cex and looking there.
Maybe next time put a label on the item, what a dumbass
He put the wrong bag in the bin. His partner refused to check, he intended to himself instead and instead of cimmediat ASAP (the article states he wants too concerned and decided to check it tomorrow when he wakes up), but when he gets up, his partner has already taken the rubbish to the refuse centre.
Given how non chalant he was about leaving the potential HDD in the rubbish, i doubt such thing even existed in the first place; at the least not to the amount implied.
You’re responsible for you own shit and if he read all about bitcoin on a forum; my advice would be to learn to never store valuable stuff on a HDD, even if it is cold storage, when it can be stored written down as a hash! That’s the damn point of cryptocurrency.
Write it down on the back of a canvas or something ffs.
This isn’t the council’s fault whatsoever and reads as an attempt to defraud through settlement.
i mean the council could have done something closer to the time now with many more tonne of rubbish its even more impossible
How is that even possible? A bin bag is supposed to be destroyed. He cannot sue the Gouvernement for doing its job, can he?
And even if he would get it, there is no hope that the hard drive is working.
Is he trying to make money as a blogger complaining about his misery? Does it work?
I knew this would be a story about a colossal dumbass before I even clicked on it.
