Ontario does a lot of stupid shit but clean electricity generation is top tier. More than half of the mix comes from nuclear with the bulk of the remainder supplied by hydro.
If ontario was a country, it would be amongst the best in the world in this regard. There were some reddit threads praising Portugul (a country who needs far less electricity than ontario does) for maintaining 73% of their electricity clean and setting a goal to reach 80% in the future. whoop-de-doo thats pathetic Ontario meanwhile has maintained 90% for like a decade now. Without nuclear we’d still be breathing in coal dust cancer like other places who bought the anti nuke propaganda

Christ almighty bad news for a Friday. Continued use of non-green electric generation is NOT the future, from a taxpayer perspective, there is no end as to how much this will cost taxpayers between decommissioning and dealing with waste products, much less the high security risk.

They need to take every cent we pay into the carbon tax and start building nuclear power plants. It will massively decrease our carbon output, it will help provide power to our rapidly growing population, and will help support our transition into EV’s. Best thing is we’ve already mastered the technology, and we have a ton of open space to build them on.
This is great news, and I also heard that we’re likely getting a nuclear plant in Alberta soon as well.
