It sound like Russia shot down the errant drone to prevent from falling into Ukrainian hand but thankfully they failed and now Ukraine recovered the debris for analysis and pass it along to US and others interested.
Russia couldn’t keep a runny fart in a hot tent in wintery conditions, let alone a secret UFO programme.
Shreodingers PsyOp this one. It’s the BBC.
If you’re a stealth drone commander for the russian military, stay away from windows
This is somewhat old news by the way. This shoot down was days ago. And since the downing the Russians have already fired (very expensive) weapons at the crash site in an effort to destroy the intelligence value of the debris. However they were too late as the critical aspects of the debris was recovered beforehand.
Shooting at wreckage like this is quite common. Both sides do it.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c9qv3lnqy0vo) reduced by 87%. (I’m a bot)

> Intrigued, Ukrainians soon found out from the fallen debris that they had just witnessed the destruction of Russian's newest weapon – the S-70 stealth combat drone.
> The Russian plane may have been trying to re-establish the contact with the errant drone, but as they were both flying into a Ukrainian air defence zone, it is assumed a decision was made to destroy the Okhotnik to prevent it ending up in enemy hands.
> Analysts believe the Russians most likely lost control over their drone, possibly due to jamming by Ukraine's electronic warfare systems.

Probably won’t ever know what really happened. The drone could have been taken over by Ukrainian forces and the Russians shot it down to not reveal all its secrets. They had to halt SU-57 production due to export ban. Not a smart idea for Russia to rely on western electronics, when they’re your ideological enemy. Who knows what backdoors and bugs lay in wait when the shooting starts.
