  1. I mean inflation’s under control. It happened, so prices are higher now, but it’s not happening now. Reproductive rights are still at risk.

  2. My boys are adults and I am GenX. Preserving Roe v Wade has been the single most important issue for me in every election for over 2 decades. Maybe it is a privilege not to have prices be my number one issue, but control over my body is the most basic human right to me.

Inflation has dropped low enough that income gains are outpacing it while abortion rights continue to decline. So this makes sense in a purely technical way. 😛

5 months ago I was watching polls come out that were supposed to be about what the top issues were for college students, and those polls didn’t even have abortion or reproductive rights as a choice.

It’s like some pollsters were trying to de-emphasize abortion as an issue.

  5. Generally, I’d expect that codifying your contempt for someones life and well being might draw their attention.

Okay, but are they going to vote though? That’s what matters.

I am surprised inflation *was* the top election issue for people under 30. Half of them probably wouldn’t have much of a reference point what prices used to be like.

  8. Necessary_Chip9934 on

Good. If you’re going to vote on one issue, make it women’s right to make their own decisions about their own bodies.

How can it not be an issue to men either tbh? Do most men not actually have women in their lives that they like or something? These days I wonder if I was an outlier for actually having female friends.

  10. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://apnews.com/article/younger-women-abortion-survey-c8c504a7b9b5a92b4c101a57a3e3a4dc) reduced by 82%. (I’m a bot)

    > Abortion has passed inflation to become the top issue in the presidential election for women younger than 30 since Vice President Kamala Harris replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket, according to results released Friday of a survey of female voters by KFF. About 2 in 5 in the group of young voters said abortion was their top concern in the recent survey, compared with 1 in 5 who ranked it most important in the same survey in the spring.

    > Inflation remained the top concern for women in each age group over 30 and for women overall.

    > Races for Congress – as well as state offices such as governor, legislators, state supreme court justices and attorneys general – could also help determine abortion policy moving ahead. Overall, about two-thirds of women said the election will have a major impact on abortion access, up from just over half in the initial survey.

  11. It’s really no longer just simply about abortion. The fact that a woman’s right to proper health care due to miscarriages and other complications is a more important issue than inflation. Women must vote blue- they have no other choice. It could mean life or death.

A pollster literally came to my house a few weeks ago and ask me what my main issue is and I said exactly this F29

  13. bigbeatmanifesto- on

Yeah no shit. Women don’t want to die from a miscarriage

  14. wildcat_abe on

Top ranked issue ≠ what makes a voter take action, necessarily.

I know this isn’t hot off the presses, and not a survey of women under 30, but: [In a Wall Street Journal poll completed in early July, respondents were given a list of issues and asked to rank their importance in the presidential election. They ranked immigration first (19 percent) and the economy second (16 percent). Democracy and abortion each came in third (9 percent). And yet, when asked to identify “the one issue” on which they could not vote for a candidate they disagreed with, the largest chunk of respondents—24 percent—named abortion. Another 19 percent said immigration is their make-or-break issue. Only 6 percent named the economy.](https://msmagazine.com/2024/08/31/women-vote-abortion-pro-choice-elections-motivate/)

  15. I have to say – I really like women. There’s something quite amazing about them. I do hope they can come to our rescue.

Inflation sucks. Being stuck with a child you didn’t want for somewhere between 10 months to “the day you die” is gonna hit your pocketbook WAY harder.

  17. IWantPizza555 on

Women have been ready to vote since Roe was overturned. Our lives are on the line. It’s not that complicated.

  18. It’s infuriating to me that immigration is even in the top 5. It’s Trump’s favorite boogeyman. To hear Trump speak about it, you’d think the US is literally being invaded by an actual army of well armed murderers, sent here from insane asylums around the world (but especially from our south) who will slip into our living rooms and rape our children then kill us in front of them. The actual truth is so far removed from that, and it’s surreal that half our population believes the lies.

Inflation concerns go hand in hand with economy concerns, aka the amount of money in my wallet. Most people are illiterate wrt inflation, our national economy and what drives it, and their own money so this is no surprise.

Abortion SHOULD RIGHTFULLY BE THE BIGGEST ISSUE. It affects literally half the population in fundamental ways. At this point, the issue has become more about access to proper healthcare than anything related to actual abortion, especially in states with bans. It’s my number one issue, because I love the women in my life and wish for them to live long, happy, healthy lives.

This kind of thing is a lagging indicator, too. If theres a trend, its probably larger than this indicates.

  20. Madness. They should direct their ire towards their states legislators. Rvw is not coming back.

  21. HectorsMascara on

Sadly, those who view inflation as a top election issue haven’t even bothered to actually understand its causes. We’re a bunch of hurricane-nukers these days.

Please show up and vote in ROEvember for the restoration of your rights women of America! The bigger the landslide for dems the faster it will happen but be ready for the long road ahead.

  23. Shocking, imagine that? Women want control over their future, their bodies?? Who would have thought…./s

  24. YouEffOhh1 on

It’s not going to stop at abortions. Do you civic duty and vote.

  25. VictorChristian on

Nope! It’s the economy. RED WAVE! RED WAVE! 2022 has spoken….
