Less of the could – we absolutely must do this as a minimum.

It’s long overdue, it’s the fastest way to help Ukraine train new recruits. Proper training is absolutely imperative if you want to avoid huge losses.

  3. All of NATO needs to be sending troops in for training, manning anti aircraft, enforcing a no fly zone, and potentially to man defensive positions. This will free up the Ukraine to counter attack and take all of the land back that Russia is temporarily occupying. We must act to preserve democracy.

This is rather strange because SAS was already in Ukraine training troops when hostilities broke out.

There is no need to train in Ukraine. Training can be done here or in Poland. It puts both the Ukrainians and trainers at unnecessary risk. Provides propaganda for russia too. Bonkers idea.

The training is best conducted outside of Ukraine where the soldiers are not at risk of being attacked. The only strategic reason sending instructors into Ukraine and giving up this tactical advantage would be to cross more red lines, both of the Russians and of the anti-interventionists at hone.

I heard a story from a Swedish volunteer who told me that the poor Ukrainians who had gone to the UK to train had weird training. He said Thad, the Ukrainian guy, was only trained in using British weapons. That was the good part. The bad part was that the guys didn’t have British weapons in the war. So basically, they got training In weapons that didn’t have.

Anyway, RIP ‘Swede” he fell in Avdijivka last September.

Although I support this move, I am reminded how the United States sent training staff into Vietnam in the early 1960s…. And we know how that ended up….. Yet in this case this is needed.
